about

as I'm typing this, Clarence Slaughter is being laid to rest in Ohio. this recording was made sometime around 2008, when he, Mario Abney, and Julian Addison had just rolled into town looking to make a name for themselves. We would gather in our place uptown, and along with the infamous Private PIle; Prospek, Tony Clinton, and i, we'd jam for hours with only room mics as witnesses. and Ella the Jack Russell. occasionally you can hear her vocals in the background. it was all very loose, just doing what came naturally really. there was no plan, hardly ever any structure. we were young, thought we had plenty of time. In the moments when it all fell into place, we were as gods, and thought we would live forever. we were right in a sense. but terribly wrong in another.
